Celebrate the Centennial of the Governor's Mansion and the Summer Solstice by spending a day in the garden. Enjoy hearing experts from around the country share their wisdom about gardening, entertaining and culinary delights.

In this session you will hear from one of the most requested floral designers in Kentucky, who was a 2014 Best of the Hill award winner. Learn how the simplest of things that are in front of you in nature, on the farm and in the field, can make your guests at any event feel inspired to see what is around them.

Inside Story and History of the Governor’s Mansion Gardens
A walking tour with Jon, Pat and Sandy. Would you like to know what varieties of plants are helping the First Lady welcome visitors from around the corner and around the world to the Kentucky Governor’s Mansion? Here is a tour where you can learn plants varieties; see a showcase of the garden design and hear the stories about how they have changed. The behind-the-scenes look continues with how they were restored and how the tight timeline for planting installation before the derby is an art.

Containers as Art in the Garden
Longshadow Garden Ornaments are the finest reproduction limestone garden ornaments in the United States. Three Longshadow planters, generously donated by Charlotte and Daniel, will be installed as the centerpiece of the Governor's Manson's formal garden. Dale Fisher from Jon Carloftis Fine Gardens will also be on hand to discuss recent garden designs and installations incorporating Longshadow planters, fountains and statues.

From the Beaux Arts-period furniture to the carpets and drapes, the Kentucky Governor's Mansion is a place that citizens are proud to call its executive residence. The one single element that makes the classic styling’s of the interiors, fresh and clean, is the intense use of fresh cut floral arrangements in each setting. Beth Sebastian is the creative force behind the over-the-top masterpieces that one sees in photos of the interior rooms of the Governor’s Mansion.
